MnDOT advises no travel today

MnDOT is asking the public to stay safe indoors today while they clean up large amounts of snow that dropped over the last 24 hours.

Some areas received 12-18 inches of heavy snow along with strong winds, causing challenging conditions for snowplows. Plow operators and repair shop staff have been working overnight to clear roads and keep plows in working condition. This has been even more challenging with numerous vehicles stuck on the roads. MnDOT asks residents to be patient and allow time for plows to clear roads before attempting travel.

A portion of I-35 south of Proctor to Scanlon was closed yesterday due to snow and high winds. It is now open but travel is not advised. Resources from around the state are arriving this afternoon to help with snow and ice operations.

Check www.511mn.org for up-to-date information on road closures and conditions.
