I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Kevin Maki, Vice Chair, at 7:00 p.m. in the PHS Media
Center.
II. Pledge of Allegiance

   Members Present: Kevin Maki, Liz Asanovich, Louise Lind, Ted Peterson, Craig Lahti, and

MOTION: Moved by Lahti and seconded by Peterson to approve the revised agenda as submitted. Motion approved by a unanimous vote.
IV. Approval of Minutes of Regular School Board Meeting of January 24, 2011.
MOTION: Moved by Asanovich and seconded by Lind to approve the Minutes of the Regular School Board Meeting of January 24, 2011 as submitted. Motion approved by a unanimous vote.
V. Finance
MOTION: Moved by Peterson and seconded by Taylor to approve the payment of bills
dated January 25, 2011 and payment of bills dated February 14, 2011. Motion approved by unanimous vote.
VI. Commendations & Congratulations
A. Commended the following athletes for making All Conference in Nordic Skiing: Gavin
Johnson, Grade 11 and Carly O’Connor, Grade 11.
B. Commended Brendon Viaene, Grade 11, for making All Conference in Downhill Skiing.
C. Commended Liz Proepper, Title I Teacher at Bay View, and her students for airing on the
Northland’s News Center for “Tech Tuesday” which features the Title I program at Bay
View piloting iPads. This aired on February 1, 2011.
D. Congratulated Kathy Peterson, Grade 7, who won the spelling bee on February 2, 2011.
Lucas Grell, Grade 8, was the runner-up. Both will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on February 17, 2011 at Woodland Middle School in Duluth.
E. Commendations went to four Proctor students for volunteering to clean up the bleachers at the hockey arena after the Boys’ Hockey game vs. Hermantown on January 25th. These students were Karlyn Bullard, Kellie Forrest, Aubrey Knox and Linda Stevens.
F. Commended the following students for making All Conference in Girls’ Hockey: Nichole Mathews, Grade 12 – 1st Team and Reilly Fawcett, Grade 9 – 2nd Team.
VII. Public Participation
A. Chris Bryant from the Proctor Area Hockey Association (PAHA) is forming a committee
to explore the idea of building a new hockey arena. The current arena was built in 1972
and has maintenance and safety issues. The group is in the process of seeking nonprofit
status. The Board supports PAHA’s efforts and will continue communication with
them.
VIII. Consent Agenda
MOTION: Moved by Lind and seconded by Lahti to approve the consent agenda as
submitted. Motion approved by unanimous vote.

1. Approved the sixth assignment for Josh Gookins for 6th grade Encore L.I.F.E. for the second semester of the 2010-2011 school year.
2. Accepted retirement from James Masterson, who has been on a 5-year leave of absence, effective February 1, 2011.
3. Hired Elizabeth Siemers as the Boys’ Assistant Track Coach for the 2010-2011 school year.
4. Accepted resignation from Heather Ashbaugh, 10 hour/week Cook’s Helper effective February 4, 2011.
5. Accepted a letter of retirement from Irene Verville, C-III Custodian at Bay View. May 13, 2011 will be her last working day.
6. Accepted request for a Medical Leave of Absence for Jean Brendengen, Ed Assistant, for approximately six weeks effective January 31, 2011.
7. Corrected the assignment increase for Lindsay Szmania – Health 7 from a .7 FTE to a .8 FTE effective January 25, 2011.
8. Hired Matthew Brunette as a 1.0 FTE Grade 6 Long Term Substitute Teacher, effective February 15, 2011.
9. Hired Christopher Nemeth as a 1.0 FTE Grade 6 Long Term Substitute Teacher, effective February 15, 2011.
10. Hired Sheryl Sink as a 10 hour/week Cook’s Helper effective February 15, 2011.
11. Hired Elizabeth Flesvig as the Assistant Girls’ Track Coach for the 2010-2011 school year.
12. Hired Forrest Randall as the Head Girls’ Soccer Coach for the 2011-2012 school

   A line drawn from the intersection of the Southerly line of Lot Nineteen (19), SAND BEACH, with the Easterly line of the road delineated on said plat as the Bergstrom Road which is the point of beginning, thence Northerly following the Easterly line of said road to the intersection of said Easterly line with the Southerly line of Lot Seventeen (17) SAND BEACH thence Westerly following a westward extension of the Southerly line of said Lot Seventeen (17) SAND BEACH to the intersection of said Southerly line so extended with the Westerly line of the road dedicated by the plat of SAND BEACH as Bergstrom Road thence Southerly along the Westerly line of said road to the intersection of the westward extension of the Southerly line of Lot Nineteen (19) SAND BEACH then Easterly along said Westerly extended line of said Lot Nineteen (19) SAND BEACH to the point of beginning.
   IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that this Order shall: (a) be served at least ten (10) days prior to such hearing on all record landowners in the plat of Sand Beach (including contract vendees, marital interest holder and those with estates for years) residing in this State in the manner provided by law for the service of Summons in a civil action; (b) be served at least fourteen (14) days before the show cause hearing upon any of said record landowners who are non-residents by sending them a copy of this Order to each non-resident’s post office address, by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested; (c) be served upon each of said record landowners who cannot be found by sending a copy of said order to show cause at least fourteen (14) days prior to the hearing by first class mail to the address of such party as stated on the Certificate of Title, if any, and to the last known address of such party if different from the address on the certificate of title; (d) be served upon the commission of natural resources by certified mail at least 60 days before the show cause hearing herein; (e) be personally served upon the chair of the Gnesen Town Board at least 10 days before the show cause hearing herein; (f) be published and posted for two weeks, the last publication to be at least ten days before the show cause hearing herein.
